this was a week of running that included me finally yielding to reality. reality is that on 07.18.2009 i became aware that i likely had a bone injury in the lower portion of my left tibia. i really did not want to embrace this injury as a reality and i continued to run hoping that it would heal without me needing to take a running break. throughout this week i increasingly become aware that it was going to be necessary to take a break before the beginning of the fall marathoning season. during my run on 08.01.2009, i resolved that august would be primarily a roller skiing month.

this is my second bone injury this year and both emerged after substantial increases in my weekly mileage. i had blogged a few weeks back about delaying the pursuit of participating in 100 mile events. recently i had been rethinking that and was considering the “rocky raccoon” again for 2010. with this second bone injury, i think it might be wise to give myself more time to prepare for my first 100.

my fall schedule is coming together (with only one more marathon to register for). i am very excited and i am hopeful of being healed up and ready to go!

I use a product called "living Calcium" by Garden of Life; plus lots of fresh squeezed carrot juice. I had a broken bone heal too much given this treatment.

Hope your leg gets better. You're logging some great miles. Will you be running any tune up races locally?
