Just wondered...maybe you explained it somewhere.

How often do you take gels in a race? I usually take a Gu every 30 minutes in a race.

I wondered if this would help you keep your speed up longer....

i hit them about every 45 minutes. at this point i think it is just a matter of fitness and conditioning. two months ago - staying on 7:20 for 8 miles was a huge accomplishment. so to stay close to that for 15 to 16 i think is a sign of improvement. i am confident that over the next few months i will be able to get myself to the place that i can stay on IT for 26 to 30 :)

Skinny Bear, off topic comment: Today at Maryville, I met a guy who ran the marathon of the Frisco. He thought it was disorganized but blamed it on it being the first year. I mentioned that someone told me that every race that race director does is disorganized. I think that was you who said that in your blog.

that has been my experience. i am thankful that the events are offered, but yes - i have been frustrated with a few things related to the events he directs.

the "minneapolis marathon" i participated in was an inagural event and a similar price - and the difference between the "frisco" and the "minneapolis" are beyond comparision. i don't think the "frisco" should have been more than $45 at the least. oh well. still glad i did it. don't know if i will do it again, or if the event will survive.
