staying the course: dick beardsley

running book reviews: "staying the course: a runner's toughest race" by dick beardsley

a very inspiring book.  i loved the minnesota connection.  dick ran for wayzata high school which is one of the schools i competed against on a regular basis during my high school days.  dick also ran for coach underwood at south dakota state university for a season.  i came very close to being a jack rabbit and remember some of the conversations i had with underwood during the recruiting process.

i loved reading about dick's improvements over the marathon distance (thirteen consecutive p.r.s).  his portrayal of his experience at the 1982 boston marathon was vivid and enthralling.  his encounters with tragedies and his comebacks are incredible.

excellent book.
